

Kim was born in Waterloo, Iowa, to James and June (Prince) Glanzman. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, CA. Following graduation, Kim joined the U.S. Army and served from 1978 to 1998. During her military service, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Martin’s University in Germany.
While in Germany, Kim met her husband, Clyde Yarborough. They married there in 1983 and honeymooned in Paris, beginning a lifelong love of travel they shared throughout their marriage.
After retiring from the Army, Kim worked as a VA Counselor, continuing her dedication to serving fellow veterans until her retirement in 2007.
Kim had a deep love for cooking and baking, even publishing her own cookbook. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, making many handmade gifts for her family. She was active in the Rock Island Arsenal Spouses Club and strongly supported her husband’s career there.
Though naturally shy, Kim enjoyed being around people and made strong connections with those in her community.
Among those left to honor her memory include her husband, Clyde; sons, Sephan Yarborough and James (Ashley) Yarborough, and grandchildren, Kyree Amir Yarborough and Ellie Florean Yarborough.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, James Glanzman and Bonnie Sue McCannon.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Weerts Funeral Home; Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service. Kim will be laid to rest at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
