
Larry Dean Frandsen, 88, of Dewitt passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation is Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026, from 11 am until 2:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm. His final resting place will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may go to the family.
Larry was born in Nashville, IA to Carl and Florence (Scott) Frandsen on July 23, 1937. He graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1956 and proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Allers on July 6, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. He worked as a foreman in the HVAC department at the Rock Island Arsenal for 35 years before retiring in 1993.
Larry had a great passion for raising bees and loved working in his strawberry patch.
Those left to cherish his legacy include his wife, Joyce, children: James (Kathy) Frandsen, Clinton, LeAnn (Rory) Bruckman, Runnells, grandchildren: Lyndsey Holloway, Des Moines, Nicholas (Gabriela) Bruckman, Pleasant Hill, IA, Katie Frandsen and wife Jessie Mae Frandsen-Long, Southaven, MS and Koner Frandsen and fiancé Libby Schwers, Urbandale, IA; great granddaughters: Sloan and one on the way, Genevieve; brother, Arthur (Karen) Frandsen, Maquoketa; sisters-in-law, Vivian Frandsen, Baldwin, IA and Marilyn Frandsen, Maquoketa, brother-in-law, Dave Nelson, Eldridge, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Irene Kleinsmith, Ruby Voss, Velma Witt, and Ione Nelson; brothers, Paul, Roy and Harvey and nephews, Dennis Frandsen, Douglas Kleinsmith and Ron Frandsen.
