Lenora Sims

Vee Lenora Sims, 79, of Detroit, Alabama, formerly of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Detroit. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Lenora was born June 22, 1935 in Hamilton, Alabama, the daughter of Frank and Rosabell (Godsey) Crowe. She was united in marriage to Melvin D. Sims, Sr. on November 16, 1978 in Moline.

She had worked 25 years for Wonder Bread Bakery prior to her retirement in 1991.

Those left to honor her memory include: her husband, Melvin; children: Patricia (Larry) Atwood; Linda Darline “Darl” (Steve) George; Donna (Brian) McDonnell; Tina Marie (Greg) Steinbeck; Chuck Sims; Sherry Upton and Melvin Dale (Maria) Sims, Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and sisters: Pearly Lacey and Joyce (Leon) Sizemore. Her parents, sons, Mitchell Emerson and David Emerson and four siblings preceded her in death.
