Leona Esther Roman

Leona Esther Roman, 84 of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Senior Star. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.She was born on January 16, 1932 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Michael and Lena Payne. Leona worked at Woolworth in Kewanee and Jewel Osco in Moline, where she was known as a highly efficient and organized employee.She was a former member of Millcreek Golf Club. Leona enjoyed spending time outside, watching the leaves changing colors and traveling with Jack. Also she loved camping and canoeing. Leona’s adored her grandchildren and she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing board games, cards and the time they spent together.Those left to honor her memory include her children: Bill (Sue) Gerard, Julie (Dale) Drigot and Jeff (Linda) Gerard; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and extended family, staff and residents at Senior Star Memory Care.Leona was preceded in death by her mother, husbands: Dean Gerard, Jack Hallgren, Prosper Roman and a great grandson, Julian.The family would like to thank the staff at Senior Star Memory Care Unit and Hospice Compassus for the loving care they gave their mother.Online tributes and condolences may be expressed by visiting www.rungemortuary.com.
