

Lester A. Runge, 94, of Donahue Iowa passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home, on the farm of his birth. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, February, 19, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the Runge Mortuary and from 9-10 am Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or North Scott FFA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. He was born December 16, 1920 in rural Donahue. On February 21, 1943 he married Doris Kearney in Davenport. She preceded him in death in 1991. On April 16, 1994, he married Ruth Golden in Davenport. Mr. Runge farmed on the family farm, which has remained in family ownership from 1849 to the present day, completing four generations. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, woodcarving, crossword puzzles, and he enjoyed writing poetry. Survivors include his wife Ruth; children Marvin (Pat) Runge and Willetta (Tim) Trenkle; grandchildren Kymberly (Larry) Graham, Lisa (Troy) Anderson and Brad (Nancy) Gradin and great grandchildren Jared, Moriah, Elisha, and Jesse Graham, Isaac and Hannah Payne, and Alix and Emma Gradin. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Albert L. and Malinda (Rohwer) Runge and a sister, Alberta.
