Lila D. DeVan

Lila D. DeVan, 71, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. She was born January 18, 1943 in Monticello, MO; the daughter of Edgar and Juanita (Washington) Tate. Lila worked as a C.N.A. for many years with area nursing homes prior to her retirement. She was a devoted grandmother and played the “mother role” in three of her grandchildren’s lives, Tashanna, Michael and Brittany. She made a lot of sacrifices for her family and worked hard as a single parent to raise her four wonderful children.

Those continuing her legacy include her children: Mary “Tiny”, Ronnie, Curtis and Jeffery DeVan, all of Davenport; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Viola Tate, Davenport; brothers, James Tate, Davenport; Russell Tate, South Bend, IN and Robert Tate, Hannibal, MO; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by brothers: Clarence “Chuck” Tate and Charles Tate and a sister, Mary Mallory.
