Linda M. Brooks

Linda M. Brooks, 62, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 12:00PM Friday at Olivet Church in Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10am till service time, at the church, on Friday. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Linda was born August 19, 1951 in Moline, the daughter of James and Lucille (Smith) Brooks. She graduated from Rock Island High School and earned a scholarship in art to Blackhawk College in Rock Island. She received her Master’s Degree in Martial Arts and had won several awards in martial arts. She had been employed as a certified nurse’s aide at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Davenport and at Ridgecrest Health Care.

She earned her 3rd Degree Black Belt in martial arts. She enjoyed art, drawing, music, spending time with her grandchildren and physical fitness activities.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: DeAngela Marie Brooks, Bloomington, MN, Michaela Michelle (Clifton) Clenna, San Tan Valley, AZ, Linda Marie Brooks, Davenport, Robert Dewan Wilson, Jr., Sioux Falls, SD and Darius Ramone (Angela) Lathan, Davenport; 18 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren, Sister, Ethel G. Bassett, Rock Island; brother Harold L. Brooks, Springfield, Il; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Robert D. Wilson I; her parents James and Lucille Brooks; grandson, Darius Ramone Jr.; her sister, Lucille Roberts, Margaret Brooks and Marcella V. Hart; and brothers, James E. Brooks, Jr., William R. Brooks, Lynn Brooks and Robert L. Brooks.
