Lois Ann Hultgren

The family of Lois Ann Hultgren of Davenport, IA, is saddened to announce her passing on February 23, 2025, at the age of 90. Lois Ann was born in Cedar Falls, IA on September 12, 1934, to Amelia & Carl Erbe. She was a 1956 graduate of the Iowa State Teachers College, currently known as the University of Northern Iowa.

Lois Ann taught Kindergarten in Des Moines, IA, at the Fort Des Moines School. She continued teaching and substitute teaching in Davenport for many years. She married Richard Sehmann in late 1956. They had three children, BethAnn, Scott and Kristin. Richard Sehmann passed away very unexpectedly of a heart ailment in 1965. In 1967, she married Dr. Charles Betzel in Davenport, IA. Dr. Betzel passed away in 1980 of Colon Cancer. In 1982 Lois married Carroll Hultgren to whom she was married for the next 38 years before Carroll died from Parkinson's in 2020. Lois loved entertaining and planning gatherings with her family and friends, especially during the holiday season. Lois Ann was sure to make it a special event whenever family and friends visited.

Lois is survived by her children Beth Ann (David) Wegner and their son Sam; Scott (Mary) Sehmann and their daughters Marissa (Evan) Armstrong and Emmy Sehmann; and Kristin Sehmann (Mary Meador) and their sons Gabriel and Cristian Sehmann; She was also a loving mother to her stepchildren Melissa (Tom) Cooney and her children Bridget, Mary, and Robert; as well as Craig (Elisabeth) Hultgren and daughters Shelby and Rikki Camp.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Fred (Rita) Erbe.

Our family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff members of Wesley Acres who provided exceptional care for her as her health deteriorated. The nurses and staff are truly the best people ever.

Visitation with family greeting friends will be held Friday, March 7th at 10 a.m. immediately followed by Funeral Services at 11a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 2136 N. Brady Street, Davenport, IA 52803. Following the service, the church will be serving a small luncheon at the church. Burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
