Loren L. Arp

Loren L. Arp, 61, of Walcott, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:30 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Walcott Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Burn Unit or Calvary Church Preschool in Walcott. Loren was born December 19, 1948 in Davenport, the son of Karl and Nelba (Moeller) Arp. He was united in marriage to Sherry Hofstetter on September 19, 1982 in East Moline, IL. He graduated from Augustana College and went on to graduate from the University of Iowa with a degree in Physical Therapy. In his spare time, Loren farmed on his land, but, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers fan.

Loren had been a physical therapist for over thirty-six years and worked as a clinician. He held many regional and national positions pertaining to rehabilitation techniques and human performance testing. He lectured nationally on isokinetic human performance testing and was recognized as an authority on testing outcomes. Over the past two decades, Loren had expanded the science of isokinetics through clinical study and currently was researching isokinetic strength-duration curves as it related to diagnostic conditions. He was Co-founder and President of Cost Reduction Technologies with corporate headquarters in Davenport.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sherry, Walcott, children: Michael (Lyndsay) Arp, and their children, Brayden and Mikayla, Walcott, Abbi Arp, Iowa City, Krista Arp Scaia and her husband, Mike, Jacksonville, FL, Amy (Greg) Hageman and their son, Gavin, Davenport, Ty (Michelle) Arp and their children, Ashlyn and Dylan, Walcott, his mother, Nelba, Davenport and brothers, Duane and Kent, both of Walcott. His father and a brother Dana preceded him in death.
