

Lupe Martinez, 80, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the mortuary with a Christian Wake Service and Rosary at 7:00PM. A private burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Davenport at a later date.
Lupe was born April 24, 1934 in Moline, IL. She married Paul Martinez on December 10, 1955; he preceded her in death on September 5, 2004.
Lupe was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Lupe and Paul owned and operated Martinez Taco House in downtown Davenport for 32 years, where she made many friends. She was enormously compassionate and had a very magnetic personality and charm about her. She was always bubbly and happy and joking and had a youthful spirit. She loved to cook and spend time with her family and she enjoyed the peacefulness of retirement. She touched many peoples’ hearts and will be missed by so many.
She is survived by her loving family: daughters, Joann (Steve) Venghaus, Linda (Mike) Clark, and Julie (Anthony) Scott; sons, Paul (Mary Jo) Martinez and Daniel (Cindy) Martinez; brothers, Joe Mendoza and Angelo Mendoza; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings, Inez Morales, Josephine Morales, Maria Louisa Mendoza, Frances Herrera and Phillip Mendoza.
