Margaret Mamie Davis

Margaret Mamie Davis, 93, of Des Moines, formerly of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:30 am at The Runge Mortuary in Davenport, IA. Visitation will be Friday from 10 am until the service, at the mortuary. Burial will be Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Margaret was born July 16, 1920 in Dallas County, Iowa, to John & Gladys (Reese) Gasper. She was united in marriage to Archie B. Davis in August 1938. He preceded her in death in 1974. To this union was born a son, Archie H. Davis and a daughter, Margaret (Sis) E. Davis Hicks. Margaret was a homemaker most of her life. She loved cooking, baking, crafts and shopping. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Davis Hicks, Des Moines, Iowa; grandsons: Mike (Donna) Hicks and Mark (Sally) Hicks, granddaughters: Laurie Hicks, Karen (Bill) Howard, Tracey Davis and Tammy Haugen; great grandchildren: Amberly (Nathaniel) Olson, Crystal Howard, Emily and Aaron Hicks, Cody, Nick, Brandon, Kelsey and Katherine Bowles and Mark Wallace; step great grandson: Marty Sites and Robert Williams; great great grandson, Matthew Howard; 10 step great great great grandchildren; brother, James Stewart, Knoxville, IA; sisters: Eva Lilland, Huxley, IA; Janet Hamann, Canton, SD; Gaye (Ernie) Jordan, Boone, IA and Carolyn (Bobbi) Smith, Springfield, MO. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret is preceded in death by a son, Archie her stepfather, brothers: Fred Gasper, Lloyd Gasper, George Stewart, Robert Gasper; sisters: Mary Ellen Davitt and Marilyn Stewart Kelly; several infant siblings; four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
