Marlene was born on July 25, 1937, in Hoopeston, Illinois to parents Marvin and Virginia (Heaton) Kell. She attended nursing school in Peoria, Illinois and then worked as a nurse at United Methodist Hospital in Champaign, Illinois, where she met her future husband, Ronald Duclos. She married Ron in 1960 and, soon after, decided to trade in her scrubs to devote her time to raising their children. Together, the pair shared many years of joy until Ron passed in 2003.
In her spare time, Marlene enjoyed playing tennis, taking walks, sharing time with friends, healthy living and eating, and savoring a good cup of coffee. She loved family above all else, cherishing every moment spent with those dearest to her. At her core, she was authentic, warm, and deeply caring. Throughout her life, Marlene embraced both the joy of companionship and the peace of quiet solitude.
Among those left to honor her include her children; Rhonda (Dan) Farley of Bedford, TX, Todd (Dianne Rist) Duclos of Huntsville, AL, and Kevin (Debbie) Duclos of Gurnee, IL; two grandchildren, Jack and Sean Farley; a sister, Kristie Levine of Downer's Grove, Illinois, and many dear friends, especially Terri Basile.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, and her parents. At this time, no memorial arrangements have been made. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Croix Hospice of Davenport, Iowa.
