Mrs. Marlys Elizabeth Helgeson

Marlys Helgeson, 80, of Davenport passed away Tuesday, August 24,2010 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House Bettendorf, IA. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the mortuary. Marlys was born on June 23, 1930 in Warren, MN, the daughter of Wilmer and Ethel Agnus (Johnson) Laidley. She married Curtis J. Helgeson on February 23, 1957 in Grand Forks, ND. He passed away August 28, 1993.

She worked at Crescent Cleaners, did house cleaning and various other jobs and

worked at the Davenport Club for 14 years until it closed in 1993.

She was a member of Adventure Christian Community Church and CASI. She loved to cross stitch and crochet making blankets and quilts. She was very dedicated to her family and would do anything for them.

Survivors include: four daughters, Wanda (Randy) Korber, Albion, NY, Rhonda (Tom) Bowdre, Davenport, Fern (Chris) Werner, Davenport, and Melissa (Gary) Mangler, Donahue; one son, Dr. Merle (Diane) Helgeson, Florence, KY; six grandchildren, Justin Kane, Ashley Mangler, Jeffery Korber, Jarett Mangler, Tony Werner, and Samantha Korber; sister, Verna (Marvin) Stave, Davenport; brother, Donald (Melba) Laidley, Thief River Falls, MN; sister, Eunice (Julius) Van Baalen, Hibbing, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Willis Laidley in 1958.
