Martha Henklemann Loewen, 92, of Davenport, Iowa went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Silvercrest Garner Senior Living. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 12pm at First Evangelical Free Church in Moline; friends may call upon the family starting at 11am. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Evangelical Free Church, American Heart Association, or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Martha was born on October 24, 1930 in Zelanka, Poland to Ludwig and Martha (Rosler) Henklemann. She immigrated with her sister to St. Joseph, Michigan in 1956. On June 9, 1957, she was united in marriage to Arthur Loewen.
Martha was the consummate homemaker. Oma, as she was known to all, sewed, knitted, crocheted, gardened, and most especially she enjoyed cooking and baking. She even had a small business baking cakes for others for a number of years. Oma always welcomed guests into her home and treated them all like family. No one ever left hungry and everyone had to have at least one of the many scrumptious desserts she always had available for drop-in guests! You could not refuse Oma! She was a loving wife, mother, Oma, and friend to all. Her great love and caring for them and others will be greatly missed.
Martha is survived by her husband, Arthur, her four children Doris (Kevin) Garrand, Susan Loewen, Lisa Loewen, and Curtis (Ann) Loewen; three grandchildren Camron (Meara) Loewen, Kristen Loewen, and Catherine Loewen; her sister Helga Wolske.
She was preceded in death by five sisters Aurelia Krebs, Lena Bauer, Ingrid Reitze, Ilse Reim, and Herta Kreutzma and her brother Norbert Henkelmann.
