Martin Zepeda, Sr., 88, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 9:30am at the National Cemetery, Rock Island. Those wishing to attend need to meet at 8:30am at The Runge Mortuary. He was born November 5, 1928 in Elgin, TX; the son of Prospero and Aurelia (Sombrano) Zepeda. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Martin was united in marriage to Helga Egger on April 3, 1971 in Bettendorf. He worked at Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf, retiring in 1993 after 41 years of faithful service.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Helga, Davenport; son, Martin Jr. (Becky) Zepeda, Mississippi; daughter, Connie (Mauricio) Escarria, East Moline; son, James (Pam) Zepeda, Davenport son, Pete (Debra Chisholm) Egger, Bettendorf; sisters, Julia and Stella, both of Minnesota; grandchildren: Joseph, Meagan, Michele and Michael and a great grandchild, Rylee. He was preceded in death by a son, Joey, three brothers and one sister.
