

Mary Bernadine “Bernie” Broessel, 95, formerly of Bettendorf, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Crest Health Center in Davenport. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am, Friday, June 6, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will begin at 3 pm Thursday, concluding with a prayer service at 7:30 pm at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. “Bernie” was born December 4, 1918 in Dubuque, Iowa and was united in marriage to George Ivan Broessel on August 10, 1944.
“Bernie” was a devoted wife and mother and an instrumental part of George’s responsibility in co-ownership of Bettendorf K&K True Value. She was a graduate of Bayless Business College, a devoted follower of Catholicism and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Her hobbies included traveling, fishing and spending time with family.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons John and Dan Broessel; grandchildren Becky Ketron, Bryan Broessel and Mandy Coffelt; great grandchildren Alexandria and Bailey Driscoll, Alexis, Cade and Kennedy Ketron, Chance and Brooke Broessel and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Louis and Gertrude Coleman, and a brother, Merlyn.
