

Mary W. Campbell, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on March 8, 2025 at the age of 87 in Davenport, Iowa. Mother of Carol Campbell of Downers Grove, Illinois and John Campbell (Sherri) of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandmother of Noa (Chloe) of Fort Collins, Colorado and Jennifer Campbell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Mary graduated Oak Park River Forest High School in 1955 and the University of Wisconsin 1959 with a degree in Spanish and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married John (Jack) Campbell in 1959 and welcomed children Carol and John in 1960 and 1963, respectively. She spent her early family life caring for her two children and then went to work in retail sales and as an independent insurance agent before retiring.
Mary loved to travel and did so extensively including Africa, the Galapagos Islands, the Far East, and Europe. She lived most of her life in River Forest, Illinois, and then adopted a more nomadic lifestyle living in Florida, Virginia, and Iowa. She enjoyed playing tennis and spending time at the beach. Most will remember Mary’s frequent laughter and pleasant disposition.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cleveland and Mildred White, former spouse John Campbell, and sister Harriett.
No local memorial service is planned. A celebration of life event is planned for the Oak Park/River Forest area in May. She will be buried in the White family plot in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
