Mary Margaret VandeLune

Private graveside services will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to be held in the summer. Runge Mortuary is privileged to serve her family.

Mary was born on August 27, 1935, in Bellevue, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Alverda (Blitgen) Theisen. She married Ronald VandeLune in 1975 in Davenport, and he preceded her in death in 1981.

She retired from Alcoa in 2000 after 28 years of service. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed shopping for the best bargains using coupons, cooking, baking and watching game shows.

Those left to honor her memory include her children. Mike (Kris) Sommers, Kathy (Mike) Smeltzer and Sandy Rice, all of Davenport, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a sister, Deb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ron, brother, Bob and son-in-law, Mark in 2023.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the medical staff of the 3rd floor at UnityPoint, the great people of UnityPoint Hospice and her best friends, Linda and Sue.
