Michael Steven Carlson, 54, of Davenport, died Monday, August 22, 2011 at University Hospitals in Iowa City. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Symphony or the Davenport Public Library. Michael was born May 15, 1957 in Philadelphia, PA. After earning his Master’s Degree in History, he moved to Mexico City where he taught English to business executives. He cultivated a life-long appreciation for classical music. Michael was an avid reader and also enjoyed camping; especially in the Smoky Mountains, gardening and crossword puzzles.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Patsy McGinnis, Davenport; father, Russell Carlson, Cincinnati, OH; brothers: Patrick (Sonita) Carlson, Rock Island and Kevin Carlson, Seattle, WA and a nephew, Ellis Carlson, Rock Island.
