Michelle Ann Byars-Shanks

Michelle Ann Byars-Shanks, 49, of Davenport passed away with her family at her side on Monday, June 1, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital Peoria, IL. Cremation will be performed with a memorial service to be held 10:00AM Saturday, June 6, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice Care. Michelle was born February 6, 1966 in Rockford, IL to Rodney & Gloria (Jergenson) Byars. She was united in marriage to Mark Shanks on May 18, 2012 in Davenport, IA.

Michelle had worked for 8 years at the Davenport John Deere Works while serving as the Chairman of the Women’s Committee for UAW Local 281. She loved her gardening, doing crafts, and needle point. Her passion was the lake house where she could fish, go boating, & enjoy the outdoors.

Survivors include her husband Mark Shanks, Davenport; Daughter Alyssa Peterson, Davenport; Son Nolan Peterson, Davenport; Sisters Lisha Steiniger, Davenport & Ronda Dessauer, Crown Point, IN; Brother Matt Jones, Austin, TX; Mother Gloria Blackby, Moline, IL; Grandparents Vernon & Ester Jergenson, Starbuck, MN; & several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

Michelle was preceded in death by her father & a son Justin Michael Welch.
