

Funeral services for Nancy H. Kelley-Roehlk, 73, of Davenport, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mrs. Roehlk died on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center East Campus in Davenport.Nancy Helen Gadient was born on November 19, 1938 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Marguerite (Maxwell) Gadient. Following her graduation from Davenport High School, she married Rodger E. Kelley on July 20, 1957. They spent 34 years together before his death in November of 1991. Any time that their busy life would allow, they loved spending time at their “home” in the north woods.Nancy spent the first 15 years of her marriage as a stay-at-home Mom and wife. Ultimately she found this to be her favorite of all occupations.In 1957 she was hired part time as one of the first “Kelly Girls. She then went on to be employed as a personnel and engineering secretary at Ralston Purina, secretary to the superintendent of the Rock Island Water Department and finally as a legal secretary at the law firm of Goebel-Koury and Walker retiring in 1999.On October 4th of 2008, after a 15 year engagement, Denny Roehlk finally got her to marry him. They shared a very special love together and especially enjoyed cooking and entertaining.Surviving members of the family include – her Husband: Dennis of Davenport; 2 Sons: Dennis (Sally) Kelley and Dan (Margie) Kelley both of Davenport; 4 Step-Children; a Sister: Susan (Al) Jackson of Davenport; 2 Brothers: Gary (Connie) Gadient of Davenport and Roger (Jean) Gadient of Alabama; 5 Grandchildren: Travis, Kristy, Kevin, Jonathan, and Joseph; 9 Step Grandchildren, 5 Great-grandchildren, 6 Step-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by – her parents, her husband Rodger, and a son Rodger JR may they rest in peace.She was a loving mother, true friend, and a caring and giving person ….. along with being stubborn, sassy, opinionated and tough. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She ran things her way to the end.Dance Away Nancy…Memorials may be made to the family or a favorite charity.
