

A gathering to celebrate the life of Nancy A. Moore, 64, of Davenport will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Nancy passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Nancy Ann Zimmerman was born on July 11, 1947 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Lester E. and Evelyn (Bumgarner) Zimmerman. She graduated from Arthur High School in 1965. She then attended North Dakota State University in Fargo where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science in 1969. She married Perry Moore of Iowa in 1971. While her husband was stationed in Germany for two years, Nancy worked in a library in Worms, Germany. Upon returning home to Iowa, she made a life-long career of teaching food and consumer science, first at North Scott High School and later at Davenport West High School. Nancy held National certification in Family and Consumer Science. She remained teaching at Davenport West High School until her death. Nancy loved to read and once read an entire set of encyclopedias. Her other hobbies and interests included interior design, gardening, and photography. She is survived by her Father: Lester (Corrine) Zimmerman of Fargo, ND; her Boyfriend: Gene Hettrick (former Hawkeye and Globetrotter Basketball member) of Davenport, IA; three Sisters: Susan (Tom) Pederson of Bismarck, ND, Peggy (Fred) Stibbe of West Fargo, ND, Brenda (Marcus) Geibels of Vancouver, WA; a Brother: Dan (Mary) Zimmerman of Amenia, ND; two wonderful nieces, five nephews, and identical twin great-nephews. She is also survived by her beautiful and beloved cat, Giorgio. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn; her paternal and maternal grandparents; and by several very beloved pet cats.
