Alton Lucas Grandson To Nellie Mae, I just find it all so unreal that she is not here with us anymore and i remember a lot of memories that we had one of them being when me and all my cousins would work in her food pantry and we also would have bake sales secret Santa go on family trips rather it was some where local or some where far like Florida. Holidays was always big with the family especially around Christmas and Thanksgiving from us getting up on Sunday mornings for church the later we would leave to go have lunch at Bennigan’s or red lobster. I remember when she had her open heart surgery and I was there taking care of her staying with her making sure that everything was ok I love and miss you so much say hi to my brother for me grandma I love you and I miss you so much. You have your wings now god gained another angel to soon rest easy grandma.

To the family of Nellie Hollars. I give you my deepest condolences. I live in chicago, now(almost 20 years), but i still subscribe to quadcity paper.  So sorry to read of Nellie's passing. I remember her and her family when i was a child growing up in the 1970's, and a Teenager in the 1980's. We all lived on the same block. I remember her as a devout christian woman and a beautiful example of how she was devouted to her family as a wife and mother. Her and my mother started being friends in the 80's, and Nellie would often be in the kitchen at the table having coffee or tea with my mother, and they would talk about family, personal lives and"woman stuff". My mom Really took to her and they had a great connection. Nellie will Always be the example of a christian that the lord wants All of us to be. Once again...please accept my Condolences. Only two weeks ago sitting under my mother's carport next to my aunt Nellie with family listening to music and laughing about her and my cousin Lashon not knowing any of the music and seeing how much she was enjoying just being with family and how relaxed she was and her laughter will be with me forever and the love she had for my mom will always stay with me, they may not have grew up together but the bond between them was unbreakable.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings James and Geraldine Turner, Pauline, Will, and Robert Earl Lewis, and Harry James Smokes; and grandson Tony Lucas.
