Otis D. Boyd "Big O"

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. He will be laid to rest in Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial in his name. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Otis was born in Columbus, MS to Walter and Birdie (Brown) Boyd on January 29, 1931. The love of his life was “His Woman”, Vera (Price) Boyd whom he married on April 10, 1991. He worked at Alcoa in the plate mill for 40 years.

Otis was an avid sports fan, especially the Yankees and Bears. Some of his favorite things to do were spending time with friends and family, bowling, and going to the casinos.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Clyde D. (Pat) Boyd of Midland, MI, Bart A. (Lourie) Boyd of Smithville, MO, Carol A. Boyd of Sioux City, IA, Stephen Randall (Carol) Price of Orion, IL and Vicky M. (Steven) Clark of Donahue, IA; and fourteen grandchildren, multiple great and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughters, Wanda L. in infancy and Debra Price Friederichs; sister, Louise Turner; brothers: Woodrow, Wesley, Walter, John and Harley Boyd; and in-laws: Art Collings, Ruth Chamberlain, Dorothy Mehmen, Mildred Hayes, and Marjorie Patterson.
