Penny L. Thompson

Penny L. Thompson, 73, of Blue Grass, IA, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Hospital in Bettendorf. Cremation rites were accorded and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport, IA. Penny was born September 20, 1947, to Donald and Elnora Martin in Davenport, IA. Penny was united in marriage to Robert Schmidt in 1963. She later married Michael Thompson on January 11, 1982. She retired from John Deere Davenport Works. After retirement, she provided daycare for her grandchildren and several others who lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Penny”. She enjoyed reading, traveling to Nascar races, watching Days of Our Lives, and attending activities for her grandchildren.

Penny will be missed by her two daughters, Jodi (Tom) Loussaert and Melissa (Matthew) Wainman; seven grandchildren: Aubrey (Brice) Peters, Blake (Gabrielle) Forsberg, Blaire, Mallory, and Christopher Loussaert, Hallie and Jenna Wainman; two great grandchildren: Benjamin and Amelia Peters; sister Cathy Brown; sisters-in-law Cheryl (Terry) Weipert, Debbie Brooks; and mother-in-law Barbara Thompson. She was preceded in death by husband Michael Thompson; her infant daughter; parents; father-in-law William Thompson; sister Christine; and brother, Don.
