Phyllis Christine Hamann

Phyllis was born on January 18, 1923 to Henry and Camilla Sierk in rural Scott County, Iowa on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Calvin “Cal” Hamann on January 21, 1948. Phyllis was more than a housewife: she was a business partner with Cal, a bookkeeper, a school bus driver, a farm equipment operator and much more. Phyllis was always there for whomever needed a hand. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge, Iowa, the Pythian Sisters, the Golden Anniversary Club, and several card clubs.

Those left to honor her memory are her children Marilyn Hamann, Donna Darnall, Lee (Jennifer) Hamann, and Gwen (Doug) Coobs; grandchildren: Eric (Michelle) Hamann, Christopher (Jennifer) Hamann, Alexa (Joshua) Scherer, and Austin (Savanna Bachus) Coobs; great-grandchildren: Peyton, Sophia, and Isaac; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Cal, her parents, sister Elaine Fick, and son in law Rick Darnall.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 4:30 pm – 7pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge, Iowa. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa following the service. Memorials in memory of Phyllis may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge or to the American Cancer Society.
