Rachel I. Jones

Rachel I. Jones, 83, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Rachel was born December 18, 1930 in Atlantic, Iowa; the daughter of Everett and Gladys (Perrin) Allen. She was united in marriage to Bob Jones on October 5, 1959 in Rock Island, IL. She worked as a secretary in the art department at John Deere Manufacturing. She was a member of a sewing group specializing in Brazilian embroidery and together with her husband, also enjoyed their coffee group at Hardee’s Restaurant every morning. She was great at baking cookies and loved being a grandmother and great grandmother.

Those honoring her life include her loving husband of 54 years, Bob; daughter, Laurie (Trace) Kinnard, Nevada, TX; son, Jerry (Amy) Jones, Davenport; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and siblings: Evelyn (Grant) Diseron, Quincy, IL; Esther (Ed) Adkins, Grinnell, IA and Ernie Allen, Lancaster, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
