

Ralph Edward Slentz , 99, of Silvis, Ill., passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025. At his request no services will be held. A Private interment will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Runge Mortuary & Crematory is assisting with arrangements.
Ralph was born in Moline, Ill. April 21. 1926, the son of Robert L. and Bertha Gumtow Slentz.
He was educated in the Rock Island school system and later graduated from Augustana College.
During WWII he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Grundy in the Pacific.
He married Dorothy Mae Carroll in Moline, Ill. March 3, 1951; she preceded him in death in 2010.
He was employed for 45 years in retail automobile sales and management at multiple dealerships before retiring in 2001.
Ralph was a past member of the American Legion and the Moline Elks. He was a Rock Island County election judge and a volunteer for the Illinois department of aging.
He enjoyed golfing, reading and singing. He especially enjoyed his last 12 years where he was able to live independently at Crosstown Square and made many friends.
Ralph is survived by sons Larry (Sherry) Moline and Jim (Carol) East Moline; daughter-in-law Gerogia Slentz; grandsons Brent, Nathan and Brian; granddaughters Lisa, Aubrey and Tracy and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; sister, Virginia Peterson; brothers, George and Robert Slentz and son, Charles Slentz.
