

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport, IA. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pleasant Valley, IA.
Ray was born September 10, 1937, in Princeton, Missouri to Al and Theda Myers. Ray grew up in Davenport, Iowa and met his wife Melba in 1954. They were married for 64 years and raised their three children in Rock Island, Illinois.
Ray earned a bachelor’s degree at St. Ambrose University. As a student he started the Young Republican Club and enjoyed working in politics throughout his lifetime. As a talented artist, Ray pursued a career in advertising and marketing. He used his creativity working at Eagle Foods and became a highly respected leader in his field. Ray was a frequent speaker at the Food Marketing Institute and was awarded numerous awards across the country for his creativity and innovation. After retiring, Ray accomplished his next dream and opened an art gallery in Moline, Illinois.
Ray was an avid traveler and enjoyed taking his family on vacations where he could golf, boat and walk by the ocean. His wanderlust took him to places around the world and he loved seeing and learning about new and interesting places. He made lifelong friendships with people he met overseas.
Ray’s greatest pride and commitment in life was to his wife Melba, his children, and his grandchildren. He was devoted to Melba, the love of his life. He loved spending time with family and never missed an opportunity to be with them.
Ray had many admirable traits. Those who knew Ray would describe him as kind, caring, and a man of the highest integrity. He treated everyone with respect and gave his time and support to anyone who needed it. People knew that in a difficult time they could count on his support, a kind word, and a listening ear.
Ray was humble, content to stay in the background, not drawing attention to himself, but instead allowing others to shine.
Ray was beloved by his wife Melba, his children Jeff (Kathy) Myers, Jill (Jay) Litterer, Eric (Christine) Myers, and his grandchildren Joshua, Nicholas, Jeffrey and Amanda.
Ray is preceded in death by his granddaughter Amanda Myers, his parents Al and Theda Myers, and his sister Mona Holmes.
