

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 12 – 2 pm at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association in Ray’s name. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rungemortuary.com.
Ray was born on July 20, 1949, in Washington, Iowa, to Verl and Myra (Francis) Davisson. On January 1, 1972, in Keota, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Barb Sondag. They have enjoyed nearly 54 years of marriage.
Being born with a strong sense of duty and honor, Ray dedicated his life to serving his country. He spent 21 distinguished years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1988. His service was followed by 10 years as a government contractor for the Department of Defense and 10 years in Civil Service working at HQ, JMC Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 2015. His career reflected his unwavering commitment to protecting and supporting the nation he cherished.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barb, who stood by his side through every chapter of life. He also leaves behind his son, Chad (Sara) Davisson; his daughter, Angie Davisson-Johnson; grandchildren, Thatcher Davisson, Sawyer Davisson, Cohen Davisson, Ashley Johnson, Addyson Johnson, Kaela (Scottie) Mohr; great-granddaughter, Ellie Mohr; brother, Denny (Nancy) Davisson and family who loved and admired him deeply.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Verl and Myra, and brother, Keith Davisson.
Ray will be remembered for his strength, integrity, dedication, and the quiet pride he carried for a life lived in service. His legacy lives on in the values he passed on to his family and in the countless lives he influenced through his commitment to his country.
