Funeral services for Raymond Welch, 76, of Aledo, Il, formerly of Davenport, will be 2:00 pm on Friday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Friday from 12:30 pm to service time at the Mortuary.Raymond passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, Illinois.Cunnick-Collins Mortuary assisting family with arrangements.Raymond Newton Welch was born on December 13, 1936 in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Forrest and Ruth (Schauff) Welch. He married Vera Bashford on June 8, 1957 in Fairfield, IA. She preceded him in death on February 17, 1991. He then married Joan Wells, February of 1992 in Davenport. Raymond worked at Oscar Mayer for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Local Union #431. He loved to travel, camp and fish.Survivors include his wife, Joan, of Davenport, daughter; Lori Mejia of Joy, IL, son; Keith (Laura) Welch of Davenport, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a step-son; Robert (Christine) Wells of Davenport, step-daughters; Karla Bell, Kari (Perry) Teel and Kalyn (Gary) Gamber, all of Davenport, and 4 step-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Vera and sisters; Lorena, Marjory, Elsie, Twyla and Ann.Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.Cunnick-Collins.com.
