Dick was born January 19, 1935 in Moline, Illinois to Glenn and Augusta Moore. He graduated from Moline High School in 1952 and from Augustana College with a B.A. Degree in 1956. After a brief military stint, he received an M.S. Degree in 1960 from the State University of Iowa. Dick met his future wife, Lucia Anderson, at Augustana and they were married August 2, 1958 in Burlington, Iowa.
Dick spent his entire career with John Deere where he enjoyed assignments at three factories and the Corporate office. He retired as Personnel Manager from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, in 1994. While with Deere, he chaired “School to Work” Committees with the public school systems in Des Moines, Iowa and East Moline.
Dick was involved in a variety of interests and volunteer work throughout his life. He was a charter member of the Quad City Music Guild, having appeared in its initial production of Sweethearts in 1949, and later, in the 50’s and 60’s, he had lead roles in several Guild shows and directed two of them as well. Throughout his life, Dick had a great love for dogs and there was most often one around the house. He and Lucia owned lake property on Elbow Lake in northeast Minnesota, where they spent vacations and summers for 35 years and where Dick also served as president of that Lake Association. Dick was a Board Member for ten years with the Quad City Salvation Army and he was active in church work, serving as Board Member and lay leader at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. He later joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Dick is survived by his wife, two sons: Trevor Moore, Eagle River, Wisconsin, and Schuyler Moore, Davenport, as well as three grandchildren: Collin Breck Moore, Haley Marie Moore, and Riley Christian Moore, and a great grandson, Malakai James Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Betty Hillbloom, and a brother, Jack Moore.
“Truly, mine was a fulfilled life, supported by an expanded family and so many wonderful friends. I leave this world grateful to all those people and to a loving and forgiving God.”
