

Robert S. (Bob) Anderson, 89, of Burlington, Iowa, died April 3, 2026, at Great River Hospice House. Services in Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 9, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, or to the American Red Cross.
Bob was born in 1936 to James and Dorothy Anderson in Davenport, Iowa. On September 23, 1962, he married Beverly J. Vieth in Davenport. The two spent over 45 years together before she passed in 2010. He then married Sarah Jane O’Riley in 2014, gaining three step-children. Bob was a devoted father and a loving husband who genuinely put the needs of others before his own. He earned his BA degree from the University of Iowa and in 1990 completed his Masters in Engineering from St. Ambrose University, Davenport. He worked as a supervisory engineer of support services with Bendix-Northrup-Grummon, retiring in 2001, and as Captain with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was known as “Bob the Builder,” building and fixing things for himself and others. One of his crowning achievements was the home he built for himself and his late wife.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Anderson; daughter, Rebecca Anderson; son Aaron A. Anderson; stepchildren, Lisa (Dan) Gerst, Doug O’Riley, and Chris O’Riley; grandchildren, Anthony Overton and Alicia Koehlhoeffer; and niece, Patricia Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Anderson; a granddaughter, Erin Anderson; a sister, Betty Jean Anderson; and his Godchild and niece, Trista Anderson.
