Robert H. Guenther

Dr. Robert H. Guenther, 94, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024 in Davenport, Iowa. He was born on December 14, 1929. Raised in Davenport, he graduated from Davenport High School and then the University Of Iowa College Of Dentistry. He served in the Army at Fort Devins Massachusetts from 1955- 1957 with the rank of Captain.

Robert married Barbara Uhlinger on June 14, 1952, at St. Johns United Methodist Church in Davenport. They had 3 sons: David (Naomi)- CA, Daniel (Susan)- NH, Douglas (Penny)- IA. Robert practiced dentistry with his father, Dr. Herbert Guenther, at their office building on Washington St. in Davenport. Touching the lives of many in the region with their skill in dentures, crowns, and general care, Robert continued the practice after Herbert’s retirement.

After retiring himself, Robert enjoyed traveling, dancing, creating artwork and restoring vintage toy cars. Many including his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss Robert. The family would like to thank friend Rob Dalton for many years of assistance at Warren Street and the staff at the Davenport Lutheran Home for providing care and comfort the last 6 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert, mother, Johanna (Meier), and sister Dorothea Kempf. The Guenther family plot at Memorial Park in Davenport, Iowa will be his final resting place.
