Robert E. Mundt

Robert E. Mundt, 87, of Davenport passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society Davenport. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Wednesday (5/25) at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post # 26 Davenport. Visitation is 5-7PM Tuesday at the mortuary. Robert was born June 4, 1923 in Davenport to Herman & Hildegarde (Wrage) Mundt.

He was united in marriage to Lois Bielefeld who preceded him in death in 1969. He then married Jackie Stark in 1971 and she preceded him in death in 1993. In 1994 he married Navonne Hansen Day in Davenport.

Robert had served in the US Army during WWII seeing action in Okinawa, Japan.

Upon leaving the military he returned home and severed his apprenticeship for engineering and tool design at the Rock Island Arsenal. In 1990 he retired from Rockingham Machine in Davenport.

One of Roberts’s proudest boast was that he was a life time Westender. Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, and bowling often playing at the Hob Nob.

Survivors include his wife Navonne, sons Jim Mundt, Long Grove, IA, Ralph (Bev) Mundt, Portage, IN, Paul Mundt, Colorado Springs, Co, Bob Stark, San Francisco, Jon (Janice) Day, Long Grove, IA, James (Lori) Day, Davenport, IA; daughters Kaye (Dick) Thiessen, Blue Grass, IA, Rebecca (Dennis) Panozzo, Davenport, Amy (Brian) Sheridan, Davenport, IA; numerous grandchildren & great Grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, & and a grandson.
