Roberta “Bobbie” L. Chant, 94, of Davenport, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Ridgecrest Village. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at St. John's United Methodist Church, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Muscatine, IA at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left to St. John's Foundation or the music program. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com.
Bobbie was born on March 3, 1928 in Muscatine, IA to Charles and Bessie (Rockafellow) Weber. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a business degree in 1950. She was united in marriage to Byron Chant on November 19, 1950 in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2008. Bobbie worked as an office manager for St. John’s United Methodist Church, retiring after 20 years.
Bobbie was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Group and the Chancel Choir. She enjoyed playing bridge, euchre and Mexican train dominoes. She will be remembered mostly for her laughter and time spent with her family and friends. Bobbie was very involved in supporting her community at Ridgecrest Village.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Julie Badger of Buckeye AZ; son, John (Kim) Chant of Davenport, IA; seven grandchildren, Steve (Amanda) Badger, Lisa (Chad) Nelson, Tom Chant, Stacey (Steven) Gamet, Zachary (Stephanie) Kern, Rachael (Collin) DeBuysere and Joe Kern; eleven great-grandchildren, Skylar Nelson, Halle Nelson, Lucas Badger, Carly Badger, Kelan Gamet, William Gamet, Savannah Gamet, Camden Gayman, Kinsley DeBuysere, Greyson DeBuysere and Noah Kern; sister, Ruth Jessup; brother, Carl (Sharon) Klein.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sister Virginia Lanfier.
