Ron was born in Davenport to Viola and Albert Fahrenkrug. He graduated from Central high school in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and after finishing boot camp and other schools in California, he moved on to the submarine service and extensive training at Groton, Connecticut. He spent 26 years all in the submarine service on several nuclear submarines. During this time he married Mary Hagel in 1965, who he shared his life with. Those surviving Ron include his wife, Mary, daughter Cheryl Bennett (Jerry), his son Kurt (Darcy) who are the love of his life; four wonderful grandchildren Matthew Bennett, Jacob Fahrenkrug, Amanda Bennett (Chase), Kylie Fahrenkrug (Terran) who also are the love of his life. The most recent love of his life is Carson Kai Wagner who is 6 months old. Also surviving are his brothers Daryl (Kay) and John (Kay) and several upon several loving nieces and nephews. Also from his sisters-in-law Julie Cole (Dave), Becky Takomoto (Al) and Fred Hagel, brother-in-law. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Frank, and Russell, a special submariner. He served his life and country with honor.
