Ronald Ross Freeman was born on March 30, 1928, to parents, Clarence and Daisy (Kribble) Freeman, in Colchester, IL. He grew up on farms located around Kirksville, MO. During WWII he served in the United States Army as a military policeman in Korea. Following his military service, he graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (currently Truman University), received his Master's degree from the University of Iowa and enjoyed a career as an Army Civilian Metallurgist, Chemist and Engineer working for organizations located on the Rock Island Arsenal. His work ethic was extraordinary.
On March 20, 1951,Ron married his sweetheart, Verna J. Zintz (deceased) in Little Rock, AR; they shared a fantastic 61-year journey. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, QC Jaycees (Junior Chamber), Davenport Host Lion's Club and the American Chemical Society. He was a fan of the STL Cardinals, Chicago Bears and U of I Hawkeyes. As a lifelong learner, he especially enjoyed retirement travels.
Ron was an awesome patriarch and considered himself ‘the luckiest man on the face of the earth. 'In his own quiet way, he showed his family how to love one another, to be fair and optimistic. He never complained, judged, or intentionally wronged another. Even as he suffered severe chronic pain, he was appreciative, kept his sense of humor and held fast to his faith. While he leaves behind a wealth of people who loved and cherished him, there is solace in knowing he is reunited with Verna and is receiving his joyous reward in heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
