Ruth Beach

Ruth Ann Beach, 93, of Ridgecrest Village passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Genesis East Davenport. A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, February 12, 2022 in the Koning Chapel Ridgecrest Village. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Davenport Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation for Sjogren’s syndrome research. Online condolences may be shared at www.rungemortuary.com.

Ruth was born at home in Marshall County, IA on March 5, 1928 the 7th of 8 children born to Charles & Bertha (Lampman) Bovee. She attended 1st thru 8th grades in a one room schoolhouse. She went on to graduate from Marshalltown High school in 1945. After attending beauty school in Waterloo, she was very proud to become a licensed beautician and returned to the job waiting for her at Skinners Beauty Shop in Marshalltown.

On July 27, 1947 Ruth was united in marriage to Lowell Rex Beach at the Little Brown Church Nashua, IA. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2000. The couple moved several times before settling in the Iowa Quad Cities. Ruth was a 50 year member of St. John’s United Methodist Church Davenport where she was involved in several organizations. She enjoyed hand quilting, traveling, reading, and crafts. She loved her plants, flowers, and especially her birds & bird houses.

Survivors include son David (Sandy) Beach, Rock Island, IL; Daughter Janice (Rand) Hunting, Lenexa, KS; sister Ethel Stiles, Hemet, CA; 3 grandsons; 2 step grandsons; 4 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; many beloved nieces & nephews; & good friends Lisa Henry-Vasquez & Allison Henry.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rex; 4 sister Ada Wickle, Grace Ireland, Betty Miller, & Cora Halter; & 2 brothers Homer & Fred Bovee.
