Funeral services for Scott M. Henson will 10:30 am Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Mexican American Veterans Association Post #214, East Moline,IL.On Sunday, February 08, 2015, Scott Michael Henson, 56, of Davenport, Iowa, went to the big shooting range in the sky. Being a former Marine and a proud NRA member, he was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed a sunny day at the range. Scott loved fishing, camping, spending time with his animals and a huge slice of German chocolate cake.Scott was an ornery, stubborn man with a heart for his wife, his family and his animals. He took pride in his service in the Marines and his 38 years as an Inventory Supply Specialist for the Rock Island Arsenal. Being a man with such an attention for details, he knew his job like the back of his hand. Scott was also opinionated enough to tell others when they didn’t.He grew up in Davenport, Iowa and graduated from Davenport Central in 1976. Without knowing, he went to school with and graduated with his later in life, wife, Julie. The love and connection between Scott and Julie was immeasurable. In addition to his love for Julie, Scott loved spending time with his family and snacks! From hiding candy in his desk to looking forward to the holidays for Grandma Mikey’s cranberry salad to his favorite family German dish of Grandma Ruth’s Schwarzsauer. One of Scott’s favorite memories from childhood was sneaking bits of sauerkraut with his brother Joel when their grandma and mom, Carolyn made a big batch. Scott was a man of integrity, values, and stickler for following the rules. He leaves behind a family who deeply cared and loved him beyond any words. Scott is survived by his wife, Julie; mother, Carolyn Henson; daughter and son in law, Alyssa and Jesse Valdez-Quinlan; nieces, Elise Henson (Andrew, Lylah) and Amanda Williams (Terry); Nephews, Eric Henson (Rachel, Ava, Ella), Travis Phillis (Kate) and Eric Williams (Katie, Bella, Evan); Father and mother in law, Ray and Elsie Starken. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Ruth Peters; father, Troy Henson; brother, Joel Henson.Memorials can be made to the family.
