Sharon K. Carter

A Celebration of Life for Sharon K. Carter, 71, of Blue Grass, IA will be held from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on September 24, 2011 at the Blue Grass American Legion Hall. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Mrs. Carter passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center – West Campus, Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements. Sharon Kay Moore was born in Rock Island, IL on August 25, 1940, the daughter of Marvin and Kathryn (Pringle) Moore. On May 11, 1957, she married Lloyd Carter in Muscatine, IA. Together they owned and operated Chariton Lanes and Recreation in Chariton, IA. Sharon was like a mother to all the children at the bowling alley. Her love of family and children was apparent in all that she did. She enjoyed playing golf and doing ceramics, but most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her Husband: Lloyd Carter of Blue Grass; a Daughter: Debora (Johnny) Davis of Blue Grass; two Sons: Richard (Marilyn) Carter of Chariton, IA, Douglas Carter of Blue Grass; two Sisters: Judy Cooney of Moline, IL, JoAnn Atkisson of Glendale, AZ; 4 Grandchildren: Amber (Adam) Davis-Timmerman of Davenport, Kiah Carter of Woodburn, IA, Carly Carter of Chariton, IA, Austin Davis of Blue Grass; and a Great-grandson: Hunter Timmerman. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Bob, Jerry, and Gene. Memorials may be directed to the family.
