Cremation rites have been accorded. He will be laid to rest in Viola Cemetery.
Sherman was born the son of Orville and Ruth (Songer) VanDusen on July 4, 1941 in Lacon, IL. He was united in marriage to Virginia Foster in Rock Island, IL. He was employed for many years as a semi-truck driver.
He was happiest with a fishing pole in his hands or behind the wheel of a semi-truck and talked often of the farmers, the harvest, and the one that got away.
Ruth and Orville’s family has grown, leaving Sherman with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren to continue this heritage. Survivors include his children, Beverly (Scooter) Chambers, Greggory (Ann) Vandusen, Jean (Ken) DeVille, Annette (Gerald) Meyers, and Michael (Sherry) VanDusen; and siblings, Nadine (Don) Colwell (Paul) Lopez Wakefield, Evelyn (John) Dubree, Pat (Robert) Bridgeforth, Betty (Fred) Marshall, and Colleen (Dan) Einfeldt.
