Steven "Steve" Frieden, 71, of Maquoketa, IA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. A visitation will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 11 a.m., also at Weerts. Steve will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Steve was born in Postville, IA on June 6, 1952 to parents Loretta (Young) and Gerald Frieden. He spent his early years on the family farm before moving to Davenport, and continued to spend his summers there growing up. Steve graduated from Davenport Central High School and went on to work at Nestle Purina as a supervisor for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2011. He married the love of his life, Deb, on August 16, 2008 in Clinton, IA.
In Steve's spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, maintaining his lawn, and riding his motorcycle. He also had a passion for researching genealogy and shared this passion with his loved ones. Steve knew how to have fun, like when he'd go out hunting or on motorcycle trips with his friends, but he also had a gentle side to him. His love continues on.
Those left to carry on his memory include his loving wife, Deb Frieden; son, Josh (Sonya) Frieden; grandchildren, Sebastian, Dalton, Madelyn, Anderson, Julia; siblings, Connie (Douglas) Lobel, Kathy (Eric) Hildebrandt, Robert (Rhonda) Frieden, and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and two of his sons, Travis and Jeremy Frieden.
