
Susan “Sue” Kay Werner, 77, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 25, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Evelyn Hartley.
Sue dedicated 30 years of service to the Davenport School District, where she worked as a head custodian and supervisor before retiring in 2006.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Sue loved playing euchre, enjoying trips to Las Vegas, and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her kindness and compassion, and for never meeting a stranger. She also enjoyed playing bingo, dining out, shopping, and vacationing with her beloved husband.
Sue is survived by her loving spouse, Ron Werner; her children, Ronnie Dobbs, Jeanie Dobbs, Jennifer (Turtle) Schurke, Jody (Glenn) Houghton, Kristie (Gypsie) Werner, and Michelle (Chris) Dawson; her sisters, Donna, Doris, Katie, Kathleen, Leah, and Robin; her grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Paige, Brittney, Payton, Austin, Brenna, Paxton, Landon, Derek Lee, Haley, and Kayla; and sixteen+ great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, sisters Mary Lou and Elizabeth, and her brother Richard.
Sue will be remembered for her warm heart, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to those around her.

A visitation will be held at Weerts Funeral Home on April 21, 2026, from 4-7 P.M. A funeral service will be held the following morning at Weerts on April 22, 2026, beginning at 10:00 A.M.
