Todd Richard Hoffman passed away peacefully at his home in Davenport, Iowa on February 11, 2025, a few weeks shy of his 62nd birthday. In recent months, he had struggled with a failing kidney that he received from his cousin in transplant surgery fifteen years ago. Todd fought through many illnesses and health setbacks throughout his adult life, and with his last breath he has found peace.
Todd was born on February 26th, 1963, in DeWitt, Iowa and was raised in Davenport, Iowa, graduating from Davenport West High School in 1981. He moved to Arizona and worked as a DJ, then in the print industry, and eventually pivoting to managing a large music store for years. He went back to college and got his associates degree and continued to strengthen his faith by becoming a chaplain. He was so proud of both accomplishments. He loved Arizona and the warm sun but ultimately moved back to his home state of Iowa. He enjoyed working at Classical Graphics which is a family-owned apparel printing business in Davenport. He found solace in his men's faith group at church and spending time with his family and friends.
Todd truly embodied the title of “Jack of All Trades”. He was passionate about helping others with his unique talents, and this may have been his real gift to the world and to those around him. It seemed as though he could fix anything. He was at his best when he was setting up a refurbished computer for his niece, Anna, re-stringing a guitar and advising on instruments for his nephew, Luke, going to car shows and rebuilding an engine with his brother, David, and simply re-living scenes of a movie with his nephew, Justin. Todd found joy in the little things in life.... playing his guitar, engaging in meaningful conversation about faith, drinking Pepsi out of the glass bottle, playing cards with family and eating a slice of Happy Joe’s taco pizza. He was a good friend, brother and uncle who will be so missed.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Tami and Sean Papich of Hingham, MA, brother and sister-in-law, David and Cathy McCartney of Davenport, IA, sister MaryBeth McCartney of Davenport, IA, sister and brother-in-law Marge and Keith Paplham of Scottsdale, AZ; niece, Anna Papich of Hingham, MA; nephews, Luke and Jack Papich of Boston, MA, Scott McCartney of Phoenix, AZ.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nona McCartney, and father, Howard McCartney.
A gathering will be held to celebrate Todd’s life and spirit on Friday, March 7th at 10:30 am at Wildwood Church, located at 18717 Hubbard Road in East Moline, IL. All friends and family are welcome to come support the family, offer up some memories of Todd and spend some time together.
