Veldon Leroy Howerton

Funeral services will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at 12:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from 10 am until noon at the mortuary. Veldon was born September 27, 1936 in Dallas County, MO; the son of Ira and Mary Edith (Anglen) Howerton. He was united in marriage to Doris Jesberg on January 29, 1966 in Davenport. He retired in 1994 from Alcoa after many years of service as a mill operator. He served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed woodworking, riding his three-wheel “trike” motorcycle, camping and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Doris, Myrtle Beach, SC; children: Steven Howerton, Fruitland, IA and Patricia Whitmer, Muscatine; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; siblings: Ray (Billie) Howerton, Davenport; Ira Wayne (Toshi) Howerton, Independence, MO; Jesse Howerton, Weslaco, TX and Gary Dean (Brenda) Howerton, Lebanon, MO;
