Verna Lorraine Peters

Verna L. Peters, 95, of Davenport went to the Lord on Monday, October 31, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 4, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be two hours prior at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or German American Heritage Society. She was born on November 7, 1920 in Durant, IA the daughter of August and Sophia (Heyden) Treimer. She was united in marriage to Aleck G. Peters on January 12, 1941 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1948.

Her memberships include: Kings Daughters, Bend of the River American Business Women, National Association of Federal Retirees, Davenport Horticulture Society, Quad Cities Plus 60, CASI, and German American Heritage Society.

Verna enjoyed gardening, tending to her indoor plants and flowers, crocheting, sewing, volunteering, ceramics and traveling.

Those left to honor her memory include: two sons, Jerald (Robin) Peters, Davenport, IA and Richard (Dianne) Peters, Cincinnati, OH; son-in-law, John Tuch, Norfolk, NE; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Sharian and two grandsons, John Brus and Scott Brus.
