Verne Harlan Crosby

Visitation will be Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10 am until 11:30 am at Runge Mortuary with services following at 11:30 am. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Dementia Society of America.

Verne was born February 15, 1936 in Waterbury, NE. He was the son of Frank and Alice (Hansen) Crosby. He married Karen J. Baetke on June 19, 1960 in Davenport. She passed away on July 7, 2023. He worked earlier in life at Downey’s Dairy and later worked twenty years for Ralston Purina prior to retiring. He loved word search puzzles, bass fishing, especially at Scott County Park and West Lake areas and attended Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in Moline.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Duane Crosby, Davenport, Robin (Robert) Chavez, Poplar Grove, IL and Darin (Kim) Crosby, LeClaire; grandchildren; Cody (Bree) Schatz, Logan Schatz, Brady Crosby and Maddi Crosby; great grandchildren: Nash and Jett Schatz; sister: Sandra (Paul) Flock, Bellevue, NE, numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Cindy Baetke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Karen, daughter, Renee Crosby and several brothers and sisters.
