Virgil J. Kahler, 96, of Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Lakewood, CO, went to heaven on January 18, 2014. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Meryl Kahler. Virgil is survived by his sons, Jackson and John Kahler. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Meryl Kahler, Kenda and Michael Clements, Leticia and Paul Harnung, Marlana Kahler and Alyssa and Nicholas Brazil and five great-grandchildren. Virgil retired after 20 years of service as a Senior Chief Boilerman in the U.S. Navy, in 1960. He loved going to the mountains, fishing, elk hunting, the Denver Broncos, and was always thankful to spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Visitation will be held at Runge Mortuary from 3-4 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service with military honors will commence at 4 p.m.
