Davenport, IA Funeral services for Virgil H. Smith, 71, of Davenport, will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday at Cunnick-Collins mortuary, Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Tuesday from 12:00 pm to service time at the Mortuary.Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisting family with arrangements.Virgil passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at his home in Davenport.Virgil H. Smith was born on March 4, 1940 in Quincy, IL, the son of Archie and TheOdocia (Morris) Smith. He married Hazel Jones on September 20, 1961 in Rock Island, IL. He worked as a mechanic for Freiburger Excavating for 40 years. He retired in 2004. Virgil enjoyed working on old cars and listening to country music.Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Davenport, daughter; Roxanna (Jerry) Bernauer of Davenport, sons; Barry (Nicole) Smith and Vincene Smith and his girlfriend Monica Williams, all of Davenport. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Lisa, Aaron, D.J., Lucas, Travis, Austin, Zachary, Jacob, D.J. and sisters, Marthie Foltz of Fowler, IL, Mamie Meyer of Palmyra, MO, Frita Ward of Pason, IL and Betty Daugherty of IL.
